You Can Travel Around Europe for Less Than $5 with This New Bus Company

Traveling around Europes seems easy enough — after all, compared to the U.S. it’s relatively small — but hopping from one country to another by train or plane can get pricey (and complicated) fast. For travelers who don’t want to deal with expensive Eurail passes or fee-ridden, low-cost airlines, Europe’s new BlaBlaBus might be the perfect solution.

BlaBlaBus is a spinoff of the successful French online carpooling marketplace, BlaBlaCar. The bus service, which previously provided travel within France, recently aquired Ouibus and expanded their offerings to over 300 destinations in over 10 countries in Europe.

And they’re not stopping there. BlaBlaBus said in a statement that they plan to add 70 more routes before the year is over, growing their network to include over 400 destinations.

“In 2018, 50 million passengers traveled aboard BlaBlaCar," said Nicolas Brusson, co-founder and CEO of BlaBlaCar, in an online statement. "Offering cars and buses on the same platform makes the service more attractive because it will make it easier for passengers to find the right route for their diverse needs, regardless of their destination, in France and Europe. Drivers who share their trips, and bus operators, will benefit from the increased traffic and new demand generated by this enriched offer.

The coral-coloured buses can already be spotted around Europe — with destinations in Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, and even the United Kingdom and Morocco.

Typically, fares on BlaBlaBus start at 4.99 Euros ($5.55 USD), but currently the company is running a 20 percent summer promotion that drops the base price to 3.99 Euros ($4.50). Passengers traveling with BlaBlaBus are allotted two large suitcases and a small carry-on. Buses have Wi-Fi and electrical sockets.
