Netflix has shared a new trailer for its upcoming anime series Tekken: Bloodline. The show adapted from Bandai Namco’s Japanese fighting game franchise, Tekken, which has cemented itself as one of the best-selling video game series of all time since its first release in 1994.

This new anime is due to arrive on the streamer in roughly a month. Available in multiple languages, the show is set between the timeline of the Tekken 2 and Tekken 3 games.

Jin Kazama was introduced as the protagonist in 1997’s Tekken 3, where he sought to avenge the death of his mother, Jun. Netflix’s iteration will focus on the training Jin received from his grandfather Heihachi Mishima in the aftermath of her death.

“Kazama, think of your helplessness when Ogre killed your mother,” antagonist Heihachi tells Jin in a voiceover. “I’m going to tear you down completely. Then, I will build you back up.”

The trailer offers a preview of what Jin’s intense training will look like, with Heihachi informing him that “Mishima-style is the only way.”

Netflix’s description of Bloodline reads as follows:

"Power is everything." Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.

Tekken: Bloodline premieres on Netflix on August 18.
