We Finally Have a Premiere Date for Lupin Season 3
In the finale of Lupin: Part 2, gentleman thief Assane (Omar Sy) finally got revenge on Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre). Where does Assane go from there? Part three of the hit French thriller will answer that question.
Assane begins Part 3 on the run and in hiding.
Per Netflix, "Now in hiding, Assane must learn to live far from his wife and son. With the suffering they endure because of him, Assane can’t stand it any longer and decides to return to Paris to make them a crazy proposal: leave France and start a new life elsewhere. But the ghosts of the past are never far away, and an unexpected return will turn his plans upside down."
In September 2022, the streamer released the first teaser trailer:
"Watch me disappear," Assane says in the trailer.
The cast will continue to grow.
Part 3, co-creator George Kay said, will be something of a relaunch for the series. "It’ll be a fresh start in Part 3 with new characters, retaining a lot of the regular cast, but with a new branch of characters," he said. "It won’t be so focused on Babaker [Assane’s late father], even though he will remain an important, emotional crutch in his memory for Assane. It’ll be different stuff, and it won’t be so focused on Pellegrini."
Sy, too, said the cast will expand. "When you read the books, Lupin has a lot of accomplices. But [in the show] he had the one, which is Benjamin, but he needs people, [so he] hires them like he does with [Philippe Courbet]," Sy told Entertainment Weekly. "So it was interesting to have that. And I think it's going to be more interesting maybe one day having like a big cast with a lot of people. Because the thing is just being the mastermind, you cannot do everything by yourself, you need people. It's also one of his skills, to bring people with him. It was really cool to play with that. I think it's a good aspect of Lupin."
Lupin: Part 3 will premiere on October 5, 2023.
