Despicable Me 4 just got its first trailer.

Following 2022 Minions: The Rise of Gru, which earned almost $1 billion worldwide, Universal is focusing its story back on Gru, former supervillain-turned-family-man.

As we can see in the trailer, he’s got a loving wife and a newborn (who seems to hate his guts).

Gru’s peaceful home life is shattered, however, when Silas Ramsbottom (Steve Coogan) shows up to warn him about a new nemesis: Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell) and his girlfriend Valentina (Sofia Vergara). They have a giant mechanized cockroach.

Gru (Steve Carrell), Lucy (Kristen Wiig) and their girls (Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, and Madison Polan), return alongside newcomers Joey King, Stephen Colbert, and Chloe Fineman.

With Universal calling the Despicable Me franchise “the biggest global animated franchise in history,” its betting big on the fourth mainline film.

Despicable Me 4 is directed by Minions co-creator Chris Renaud, with a screenplay by Emmy winning White Lotus creator Mike White, and Ken Daurio, who’s helped write every Despicable Me film.

Meanwhile Jake Gyllenhaal stars in the action-packed first trailer for Road House.
