Trader Joe's Released Chocolate Lava Gnocchi and Our Forks Are Ready

Trader Joe's is shocking our taste buds once again. We're usually eating gnocchi, a pasta made from potatoes, with savory flavors, like a creamy tomato sauce, but the popular grocery store chain has us running to the freezer section for this chocolate gnocchi with a molten chocolate core.

They might not be the most appetizing looking food we've seen, but Instagram account user Shannon of @traderjoesobsessed quickly found the dessert gnocchi to be her newest obsession after preparing a batch in an air fryer and dusting them with powdered sugar. The Instagrammer posted her first sighting of the chocolate gnocchi, which was met with thousands of likes within a few days.

If you're worried about what's on their nutrition facts panel, the chocolate lava gnocchi runs at 300 calories per 1 cup serving. The potato-based product is also gluten-free and made from a mixture of potato puree, cream, sugar, eggs, and cocoa.

To prepare, the package says to sauté them in 1 to 2 tablespoons of ghee, butter, or oil over medium heat 6 to 8 minutes. The 12-ounce package, which sells for $2.99, suggests serving with or without whipped cream, ice cream, fruit sauce, or even more chocolate sauce.
