Trader Joe's Just Dropped the Snack of the Season, and Fans Say It Tastes Just Like a Certain Cheesy Classic

Is it just me, or does it always feel like you never leave Trader Joe’s with enough stuff? Don’t get me wrong, the cart is overflowing at all times, but I always feel like I left something behind—and it’s probably because there are so many amazing things to try! Whether it’s a delicious seasonal treat or one of those hype-inducing viral totes, there are plenty of things worth heading back to TJ’s for. And while it might be more exciting to happen upon what’s new and hot at Trader Joe’s on your own, it’s always nice to consult the experts before taking a plunge into the unknown.

Thankfully, consistently reliable super-fan account @traderjoeslist has got us covered with the deets on all the u-turn-worthy snacks just waiting to find their way into our already jam-packed carts. Foregoing their usual editorial listicle-style of reporting what’s poppin’ at TJ’s, the Instagram user shared a candid car review of the newly released Savory Squares and shared that they’re “100% a dupe for a Cheez-It and as it turns out 100% a really good dupe.” Sign us up!

These savory cheesy crackers are actually deceptively vegan and feature no dairy whatsoever. That’s right, cheese crackers sans cheese. What a concept! The crunchy umami-fied morsels are also gluten-free, so they’re a great snack for anyone with dairy or gluten allergies, although they are made with almond-flour if you’re allergic to nuts. Flavor-wise, the crispy crackers get their cheese-like flavor from a variety of ingredients, however, yeast extract is likely what gives these snacks their deliciously cheddar-inspired taste. Even better than the taste (although can you really beat exceptional flavor?) is the wildly low price of just $3.99 per box!

Of course, it didn’t take long for fans to head to the comments to share their hot takes on the newly released snack, and most agreed, they're a hit.

“I'm obsessed. I am lactose intolerant, and [they] taste JUST LIKE CHEEZ-ITS!!” said one person. The love didn’t end there though, with a few fans divulging that they’re stockpiling multiple boxes of the certifiably delicious dipper.

“They are so good. Bought six boxes 😅,” shared one fan. “I told my vegan sister to RUN to her nearest Trader Joe’s (an hour away) and buy ALL THE BOXES. These are so good. Like eating chips…can’t stop!”

Well, there you have it folks. Who knew a vegan Cheez-It dupe could cause such an uproar? The only thing left to do is grab one of Trader Joe’s wildly delicious vegan dips and go to town.
