The Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall on a specific batch of Almond Kringle pastries that were distributed to a number of Trader Joe's grocery stores. The pastries in question are sold in white wax paper bakery bags and were sent out to Trader Joe's stores in nine different states.

At the time of publication, an official announcement from the FDA said that the Almond Kringle products reached Trader Joe's locations in Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, Colorado, Kansas, Arkansas, and Alabama. The recall was made due to an undeclared allergen issue after pecans were found in the dessert. The labels do not list pecans as an ingredient.

Approximately 3,173 units of Almond Kringle with the batch code 26720 were recalled and were produced in the O&H Bakery, Inc. facility in Racine, Wisconsin. It is believed that the undeclared pecans were caused by a breakdown in the baking and icing process, the FDA said in their release.

The FDA's notice included information provided by the Trader Joe's brand and explained that no illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection to the product. Although Trader Joe's did not initially respond to Delish's request for comment, the FDA posted the following suggestions from the brand for anyone who has the recalled items in their possession:

People who have an allergy to pecans run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat this product. If you purchased the Almond Kringle with the specified batch code from a Trader Joe’s store in one of the nine states listed and have a pecan allergy, please do not eat it. We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund. Alternatively, you may send an email to TJrecall@ohdanishbakery.com with a picture of the product label for a replacement item delivered to your door.
