We can’t get enough of Trader Joe’s — and for good reason. From their frozen chicken meatballs to crunchy snacks and their iconic Joe-Joe cookies, there’s little doubt you’ll leave with a full cart and a happy stomach. However, you may sometimes overlook their impressive plant collection, especially if you’re focused on snagging groceries for the week, but there’s a new release you certainly don’t want to miss.

As spotted by Instagram account @trader.joes.plants, Lithops, also known as Living Stone succulents are back at the grocer. As the name suggests, each plant looks just like colorful rocks that huddle together in the pot. Native to southern Africa, the plants tend to grow slowly and can last up to 40 or 50 years.

Due to their unique structure, they would make for a beautiful accent piece in any kitchen or living room as long as you provide the proper care they need. Like most plants, Lithops thrive in sunlight, so it’s best to provide around four to five hours of light per day. However, too much heat can cause the plants to burn, so assess how much sun your space gets throughout the day and try to place them accordingly.

As for watering, Lithops require some water about once every two weeks in the summer and little to no water in the winter months. (It truly doesn’t get any easier than that!) The Instagrammer mentioned that the succulents may even flower, if you’re lucky.

The Trader Joe’s version is retailing for $4.99 per pot and is labeled as “drought resistant,” meaning that the plants will tolerate stretches of arid conditions. Since you don’t have to worry about too much watering or maintenance, this would be a perfect plant to start with if you’re looking to get your feet wet in the horticulture world. Plus, they truly do make for a stunning piece of home decor.
