Trader Joe’s Sugar Skull Succulent Planters Are Back In Stock

At this price, you could buy one in every color!

We like to stay on top of the newest products at Trader Joe’s, because, well, we usually want to buy everything—like their new stuffing-flavored seasoning—and our most recent TJ’s find warrants a trip to the store immediately. The grocery chain just dropped a colorful line of gorgeous sugar skull succulent planters, and we need one in every color. The planters’ design is a nod to Día de Los Muertos, the Mexican holiday that’s commonly referred to as Day of the Dead. The sugar skull is a traditional design element of the holiday, which is celebrated October 31 through November 2.

This isn’t the first time Trader Joe's has offered the planters: Last year they stocked a slightly smaller version filled with tillandsia (also known as air plant). This year's skull planters are filled with cute succulents that'll last far longer than the Halloween season with proper care. The glazed ceramic planters have been spotted in red, blue, purple, black, and orange. And at just $10 for the succulent and the planter, they're a steal! The larger planter (which retails for $9.99) is about double the size and holds a bigger succulent.

The planters were first spotted in stores this week, but it's not clear how long they'll be available. Typically seasonal products like this don't get restocked once they sell out, so if you want one, you'll need to act fast. Whether you’re decorating for a Day of the Dead celebration or just need to liven up your work-from-home desk area, these festive planters should be at the top of your grocery list.

Keep in mind that Trader Joe's does require masks (here's where you can order reusable fabric masks) and they're still limiting the number of people who can shop in the store, so plan on waiting in line for a few extra minutes.
