Christmas has now passed and we have just a few days left to prepare for our New Year’s Eve celebrations. This may include sparkling cocktails or charcuterie boards, but chances are we’re going to want to add a bit of bedazzled shimmer to the mix. It is a big night, after all, and we want to be prepared — and have our party look photo-ready, while we’re at it.

Trader Joe’s is known for having some seasonal fun with their plant offerings, from wine bottle succulents to bunny planters, but their latest sparkling product screams everything we love about New Year’s Eve parties and retro ’70s-esque fun. The Instagram Trader Joe’s fan account, @TraderJoesObsessed, recently shared the exciting news about new disco ball planters available at the chain — just in time for the big night. “How cute are these disco planters perfect to ring in the new year & more cute plants!”

The commenters were eager to pick up a few for their own home. “Omg NEEEEEEEEEEED” read one comment while another said, simply, “Must have!”

The disco ball planters, which come in both copper and silver, sell for $5.99 and contain succulent plants. The planters send just the message we want going into the new year — a plant that is built to survive inside a planter that is shimmery and festive. What better way to ring in the new year than something that is instantly a mix of shiny disco ball fun and a fun new plant to start the year fresh?

As even succulents do not last forever, these planters also present all sorts of opportunities for reuse after the plants are gone. Perhaps these could be used as fun room decor or jars around the house? The possibilities are truly endless.
