At the virtual 2020 Emmy Awards ceremony, celebrity guests were welcome to dress down in sweats or pj's as the ceremony was filmed remotely, with many of them tuning in from home. But Tracee Ellis Ross went above and beyond the lax dress code, opting for shimmer, ruffles, and full glam.

The Black-ish star, who's nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, pulled out all the stops with a tiered, gold gown by Alexandre Vauthier. Channeling the metallic Emmys trophy, she shimmered in the plunging, ruffled gown, which also featured a thigh-high slit. For extra shine, Ross wore vintage Tiffany & Co. jewels and gold Jimmy Choo pointed-toe pumps. Most importantly, she accessorized with a matching face mask.

The actress shared the look on Instagram, complete with a little red carpet in her backyard. "How fun to get dressed up!" she wrote. "Can't say I miss the frenetic energy of the red carpet or wearing high heels, but boy do I miss a pretty dress!!"

Stylist Karla Welch was responsible for the look, while makeup artist Tracey Levy took care of beauty. Ross did her hair, a classy updo, herself with products from her own haircare line, Pattern Beauty.

Though the actress stayed socially distant at home, she also joined Emmys host Jimmy Kimmel in the studio in Los Angeles to present the award for comedy series writing. "I agreed to dress for the occasion and come somewhere other than my home, so, goodnight," Ross joked.

In her defense, how could she not want to step out in a look like that?
