Tracee Ellis Ross is launching a hair care line for textured hair, and we didn't 4C this coming

Since her days starring on the hit sitcom Girlfriends, Tracee Ellis Ross’s curls have been the epitome of healthy, natural hair. For decades, Ross flaunted and embraced her curls long before it became the norm, and we’ve enjoyed every second of it. If you ever wished you knew her secrets to luscious locks, search no more. She’s bringing them to you by way of her new hair care brand.

Pattern, Ross’s new line of affordable hair care products made specially for hair types 3B-4C, will be launching online and in ULTA on September 9th. According to WWD, phase one of Pattern’s launch will feature seven products all catered to coily and curly hair, including large conditioner sizes for the curly girl that needs more than a dime-sized amount (ahem—all of us). Put your fall hair care shopping on hold until then, because Pattern is coming to give your current product lineup a run for its money.

In the most Tracee-esque way possible, the Black-ish star announced the launch of Pattern in a candid video on Instagram and on the brand’s site.

In the video, Ross explains the inspiration behind Pattern, breaks down what makes the brand different from the “competition,” and shares what we can expect from the line.

Ross also explains the many barriers that exist when testing product effectiveness for coily hair, so it seems like this long timeline is more than warranted.

Pattern sounds like the answer to every natural hair struggle one could ever imagine.

From larger-than-life bottles of conditioner to refillable travel-sized products, Pattern is here to make a mark on natural hair care. Unlike some celebrity brands that throw together products and use likeness for profit, Ross cares about giving curly, coily, and tightly textured gals what their hair needs—even if that means testing 78 samples herself to come up with seven products for an initial launch (which she did).

We don’t mean to get ahead of ourselves, but it sounds like Pattern is here to do for coily and curly gals what Fenty did for beauty: fill in the blanks that other brands have missed entirely. Pattern by Tracee Ellis Ross is launching just in time to restore your hair from the summer sun.
