This Town on California's Gold Coast Has a New Oceanfront Hotel — With Poolside Cabanas and Gorgeous Sunset Views

After a multimillion-dollar transformation, Zachari Dunes on Mandalay Beach reopens as the quintessential Southern California beach getaway today.

Travelers looking to unwind in an elegant oceanfront setting with classic California beach views can now head to the new Zachari Dunes on Mandalay Beach, Curio Collection by Hilton, which officially opened on Oct. 12.

After undergoing a top-to-bottom multimillion-dollar renovation, the sprawling nine-acre property, located in Oxnard, about an hour north of Los Angeles, now features 250 suites inspired by its picturesque beachfront location and the laid-back Southern California lifestyle. Most of the hacienda-style accommodations face the ocean and boast more than 600 square feet of space, including balconies or patios. The interiors draw inspiration from the surrounding coastal landscapes, and this theme continues in the re-imagined public areas in sync with the property’s Spanish Revival architecture.

Guests can also enjoy a variety of amenities suitable for both couples and families. The poolside cabanas are the perfect spot to take in the views of the nearby beach and sandy dunes with a cocktail in hand, while the large fireplace and multiple fire pits are ideal for post-dinner drinks and s’mores. A spa with two treatment rooms, a fully equipped gym, and tennis and basketball courts cater to those looking to stay active.

Two new food-and-beverage concepts will offer authentic Californian fare, focused on local ingredients and seafood. The resort’s signature restaurant, Ox and Ocean, celebrates the distinct influence of Hispanic and Asian flavors on SoCal cuisine in an elegant setting. Sugar Beats, the resort’s Airstream Café, will open in early 2023, serving sandwiches, fresh pastries, and local brews.
