Town Branch Park, Northeast A Street Bridge open for Bentonville residents

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Two new park projects are open to the public for Bentonville bikers and runners to enjoy.

Town Branch Park completed a beautification project of its creek, stream bank and trail, among other things, at a price tag of more than $600,000, in addition to a new bridge on the All-American Trail that is an overpass to A Street.

“It’s flowy, perfect,” Josh Wooten, a regular biker, said about the Northeast A Street Bridge. “It always seems like when I ride down this section, I always run into somebody I know on a bike, so it’s pretty cool.”

The bridge has two pathways to it: one is for the All-American Trail and the other is for the Razorback Greenway.

Wooten said he rides his bike daily — something he’s done for about seven years now. He rode over the 1,053-foot bridge for the first time on Monday.

“It’s looking pretty good,” Wooten said. “I’m beyond stoked that they finally opened this section of All-American [Trail].”

Multiple trails at Centennial Park closing for race

Lauren Gonzales lives within walking distance of Town Branch Park and said it was “difficult” to get to the trails when it was closed.

“I’d have to go a different way,” Gonzales said. “They’ve been working on it all the time.”

Gonzales went on a 3-mile run during her lunch break Monday. Gonzales said it’s convenient having the trail reopened to the public, especially for her and her boyfriend to get a run in.

“We always come down here and run,” Gonzales said. “He’s (working) in person today, so he can’t come on a run with me on my lunch, but we’ll run after work, we’ll run before work. So, it’s really nice that this is right here and easy for both of us to use.”

Gonzales said the trail, which winds up toward the Downtown Bentonville Square, is an accessible way through the city.

Wooten said the Northeast A Street Bridge is “unique,” providing a new challenge he intends to ride daily.

“It definitely allows me and fellow riders to get creative,” Wooten said. “New trail, different features.”
