The Top 9 Snowiest Ski Resorts So Far This Winter

This just in—yesterday, Utah Daily Snow, a member of the OpenSnow forecasting team, shared its list of the top nine (we love odd numbers) snowiest resorts in North America this winter on X.

Here's the list.

The Top Nine Snowiest Resorts This Winter

1. Alyeska, Alaska

2. Alta, Utah

3. Snowbird, Utah

4. Brighton, Utah

5. Solitude, Utah

6. Mount Hood Meadows, Oregon

7. Timberline, Oregon

8. Eaglecrest, Alaska

9. Steamboat, Colorado

The gist of this list (no rhyme intended) checks out. With four of the nine coveted positions on this list, Utah is proving to be a strong frontrunner this season. But I bet you didn't need numbers to tell you that the Beehive State has crushed it in recent weeks—all the videos of powder skiing circulating on social media probably had that base covered.

And, of course, Alyeska, Alaska, is the champion thus far.

But there's a minor correction to this list that one commenter noted. "Don't sleep on us S. Idaho folks. Pomerelle at 213!" they wrote. Were Pomerelle Mountain Resort, Idaho, included, they would've landed in the sixth position.

Utah Daily Snow was on it, replying, "That's a good point. We just talked about Pomerelle last night on our podcast. Don't know is why they are not listed. Will look into that…"

Another reminder—Utah Daily Snow published this list yesterday. While the standings likely haven't shifted too much, some resorts, like Pomerelle, have received additional snow overnight.

As challenging as this season has been for ski resorts throughout North America, this list cements the fact that some of us, at least, are enjoying fresh snow. And with the arrival of this more widespread North American storm cycle, the goods are finally getting distributed more evenly. Game on!
