These Are the Top 10 Fastest Growing Airlines
If you’re looking to get away from high-cost, big name carriers, you’re in luck.
New research by Routesonline has found that eight of the 10 fastest growing airlines in the industry over the first half of 2018 were low-budget carriers.
Indian airline GoAir topped the list, with a growth rate of 30.7 percent, during the first six months this year compared to the same time period in 2017. Overall, the airline offered 1.7 million more departure seats in 2018 than during the same period in 2017, with a grand total of almost 7.3 million seats, compared to 5.6 million. Another Indian airline, IndiGo, also made the top ten, coming in at number nine.
Behind GoAir is U.S. carrier Frontier Airlines, with a growth of 23.3 percent over the last six months, giving customers 11.3 million departure seats compared with 9.2 million in the first half of 2017.
Chinese budget carrier Spring Airlines came in at number three with growth of about 2.1 million more seats 2018.
Other airlines include carriers from Brazil, Vietnam and Central Europe.
