One of the immediately noticeable features of the New Balance Fresh Foam Roav V1 is the full rubber outsole. This, combined with the breathability of the mesh upper and foot-hugging Ultra Heel construction is enough to make this a grippy, comfortable option for running on any surface. It's available in over 30 colors in sizes 4 through 18 wide.

What Shoppers Are Saying: "Holy moly, where have you been all my life New Balance? These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn! I usually put insoles in my shoes but there's no need with these. So well constructed, too. I see these lasting a long time and when they do finally bite the dust, I will be replacing them with another pair of New Balance."

Brooks Ghost 15, From $110 (was $140) on Amazon

Currently the No. 1 bestselling road running shoe on Amazon, the Brooks Ghost 15 seems to work for many types of feet. This running shoe features a steeper 12mm drop, which means it props up the heel slightly more than others to better engage forward motion and keep feet, ankles, joints, and hips happier when running. It's also offered in one of the widest ranges of colors and sizes, with over 30 exciting tones and three different widths.

What Shoppers Are Saying: "I've got 30-plus running miles in them now almost entirely on roads. So far they've been comfortable and supportive of my heavy frame. They have a slightly thicker cushion than any of my previous running shoes, but I don't feel like it's overdone or that I can't feel the road. Of note, the middle of the heel of the sole is very soft."

Altra Lone Peak 7, From $80 (was $150) on Amazon

While the Brooks Ghost 15 is the top choice in road running, the Altra Lone Peak 7 is currently the No. 1 choice among Amazon's many trail running shoes. With spring unfolding, trails will start to host runners once again who choose to add textured terrain to their routes. This pair boasts multiple tread patterns to its outsole, which is perfect for exposed roots, hillsides, and rock.

What Shoppers Are Saying: "I love these shoes. I have tried several boots and trail runners and these are by far the most comfortable. I didn’t like the sponginess of the Hokas or the feeling of wearing platform shoes. The zero drop on these is great with excellent grip. No slipping whatsoever when going over rocky and rough terrain here in the Appalachians."
