Tommy Lee’s Penis Has a Hilarious (and Famous) Voice in ‘Pam & Tommy’

Hulu's Pam & Tommy is the latest TV project to tap into 1990s nostalgia—coming hot on the heels of Showtime's buzzy mystery hit Yellowjackets—but is telling a story that certainly takes a bit of tact and nuance. The series is being released in eight parts, and, aims to tell the full story behind the infamous leaked sex tape of its two titular stars: model/actress Pamela Anderson, and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.

The series shifts its focus around quite a bit in the early going in its attempt to paint a full picture of how everything went down. While the first episode of the series is largely framed around Rand Gauthier (Seth Rogen), a carpenter who was working on renovations in Lee's house, the second episode takes a step back to show us how Anderson and Lee first got together. And, as it turns out, they only knew each other for four days before they got married. Episode 2 shows us one key consultant who Lee talked to—literally—before making the decision to propose: his penis.

You read that right—in episode 2 of Pam & Tommy, Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan) has a full-on conversation with his penis, talking about how he was instantly attracted to Anderson; his penis, knowing his romantic history, makes a half-assed effort to talk him out of doing anything brash. As random as it seems, this isn't as out of nowhere as it seems; in Lee's memoir Tommyland (co-written with Anthony Bozza), he also has a lengthy conversation with his own penis.

The scene comes together with a bit of movie magic; according to Variety, the penis was both animatronic and controlled by four puppeteers. "How much is too much, and do you start to lose his emotional torment of what’s going on?" director Craig Gillespie asked. "Hopefully it works.”

Stan, who last year co-headlined the Disney+ Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with longtime MCU co-star Anthony Mackie, says that he eventually viewed the animatronic penis like any other on-screen partner. “By the end of it, I treated it like it was an intimate buddy conversation that one might have when they’re falling in love," he told Variety.

Who voices Tommy Lee's penis in Pam and Tommy?

If Tommy Lee's penis sounded familiar in Pam & Tommy, that's because it's a voice you've probably heard before. It belongs to Jason Mantzoukas, a hilarious comic who also lends his voice to the hit shows Big Mouth, Invincible, and Star Trek: Prodigy, among others. He's also been a co-host of the incredible movie podcast How Did This Get Made? for more than a decade.

Mantzoukas is also well known for his live-action performances. Fans of The League will remember him as the chaotic Rafi, while Parks and Recreation viewers will recognize him as the asshole fragrance maker Dennis Feinstein. He's also made his way into a couple action movies recently, appearing alongside Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum and in the Mark Wahlberg Paramount+ film Infinite.
