The wife of Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob Squarepants, wants Ariana Grande fans to know they've got the wrong Krusty Krab Employee of the Month.
The confusion arose when multiple sources shared with TMZ and E News! that Grande has been dating her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, who starred as the titular character in SpongeBob Squarepants: The Broadway Musical. It didn't help that The Cut then reported on the rumored romance with the headline "Is Ariana Grande Dating Spongebob Now?"
Under The Cut's Instagram post about the news, the "thank u, next" singer's fans thought it was in reference to Tom Kenny, the voice actor behind the iconic character. His wife, Jill Talley, has since taken it upon herself to clarify in the comments that her husband isn't the one dating the Grammy winner.
"Hi everyone, I'm married to Tom Kenny (who voices SpongeBob on the TV show). He is not dating Ariana Grande. I don't know if Ethan Slater (who played SpongeBob in the musical) is or isn't dating Ariana Grande. However, they're both adorable and I totally ship it. Just wanted to set the record straight," she wrote, per People.
Talley added, "PS: as for me and Tom Kenny, we are celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary today ❤️."
According to sources, Grande began dating Slater months ago after her private separation from real estate agent husband Dalton Gomez, whom she married in 2020. Slater, who is currently married to his high school sweetheart Lilly Jay, is said to have separated from his wife recently.
Representatives for Grande and Slater have yet to confirm their romance.
