Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is standing by his show The Crowded Room following a slew of brutal reviews.

The Apple TV+ series has been criticized for, among other things, having an easy-to-guess twist, dragging out a story that could work for a 2-hour movie into a 10-episode series, and overstuffing the narrative with superfluous elements.

In a video for Unilad's 'Get a Job' series, Holland compared having to see the critical drubbing the show got to being a fan of football club Spurs.

"I think being a Tottenham Hotspur fan is like being in The Crowded Room," he said. "It has taught me resilience. You know, Tottenham have never won anything, and supporting them is incredibly difficult, and it’s no secret that my show has been horribly reviewed.

"But I’m here today to promote the show, and I’m still here so I’m very resilient. It’s a good quality in a new employee."

Holland previously responded to the bad reviews by thanking the fans for their positive reactions to the show (currently it stands at a 31% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics, versus 89% from users).

"I would like to say a massive thank you to my fans, and the people that have seen the show because we're at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes," he previously said.

"I feel so grateful that I have a wonderful community of people that support me and are there for me, so I 'm honoured and really excited for the rest of the show to come out."

He also admitted that the emotional strain of filming the show was so strong, he decided to take a break from acting.
