Tom Holland felt "robbed" of his privacy after the paparazzi leaked photos of him kissing his rumored girlfriend Zendaya to the press in July 2021. The actor shared concerns over the leaked pics being taken and shared without his consent during a conversation with GQ.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home star opened up about the pressures of dating someone when you're both in the public eye. "One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn't really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world," he said.

The subsequent fallout after the photos affirmed Tom's decision to keep details of their relationship under wraps. "I've always been really adamant to keep my private life private because I share so much of my life with the world anyway," he continued. "We sort of felt robbed of our privacy."

As Tom gears up for a global press tour to promote the forthcoming Spider-Man film, that's scheduled to be released in December, he recognized that there will be tons of questions about their relationship. His position hasn't changed, though. "It's not a conversation that I can have without her," he explained. "You know, I respect her too much to say… This isn't my story. It's our story. And we'll talk about what it is when we're ready to talk about it together."

Zendaya later joined the discussion, detailing her thoughts on the leak. "It was quite strange and weird and confusing and invasive," the Dune actress said.

Despite public pressure to speak out about their relationship, Zendaya believes that she and Tom are aligned on preserving their privacy for the time being. "The equal sentiment [we both share] is just that when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own," she said. "I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other."
