A would-be burglar was allegedly thwarted while attempting to break into the Los Angeles home of Chet Hanks. And the 33-year-old son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson reportedly fought off the intruder himself, with his own bare hands.

According to law enforcement sources who spoke anonymously with TMZ, Hanks punched a 42-year-old suspect after finding him attempting to break into his home around 3:00 a.m. on Monday. It's unclear what transpired before police showed up, but when Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene they attempted to place handcuffs on the suspect, who apparently kept fighting.

Authorities were eventually able to subdue and restrain the man, but when they were leading him to the police car he somehow fell backwards onto one of the deputies who suffered a broken leg as a result. Both the officer and suspect were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries and the suspect was subsequently booked for burglary. Hanks was said to have been "physically unscathed" following the incident.

Chet, the third youngest of Hanks' children and his first with Wilson, has appeared in minor acting roles throughout the years, including on Shameless, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Empire. But Hanks is perhaps best-known for his short-lived rap music career under his former alias, "Chet Haze." In 2021, he briefly made headlines after releasing a music video for a single called "White Boy Summer."

Hanks has also come under fire for cultural appropriation, particularly after debuting a particularly head-scratching Jamaican Patois accent on the red carpet of the 2020 Golden Globes.

At any rate, it appears that when it comes down to it, Hanks can indeed put his money where his mouth is—at least when it comes to protecting his home
