Tom Hanks Shared the Purest Update on His Recovery

A week after testing positive for COVID-19, Tom Hanks gave his Instagram followers a heartfelt update on his recovery. In the snapshot, which featured one of his beloved typewriters (he's written an entire book about them, Uncommon Type), he explained how he's coping with self-isolation and what's going on with his symptoms.

Of course, Hanks isn't entirely alone. He's with his wife, Rita Wilson. He wrote that although seven days have passed, his symptoms haven't really improved, but he doesn't have a fever. He also let everyone know that Wilson's winning just about every single one of their card games.

"Hey folks. Good News: One week after testing Positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever but the blahs. Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch. Bad news: My wife @ritawilson has won 6 straight hands of Gin Rummy and leads by 201 points," he wrote. "But I have learned not to spread my Vegemite so thick. I travelled here with a typewriter, one I used to love. We are all in this together. Flatten the curve. Hanx."

In addition to reacquainting himself with a favorite typewriter, Hanks and Wilson shared a quarantine playlist, Quarantunes, which included Carole King's "So Far Away" and "Survivor" by Destiny's Child. The couple was in Australia for pre-production of Baz Lurhmann's upcoming Elvis Presley biopic. Like his latest update, Hanks let followers know that he was diagnosed with COVID-19 via a social media post.

In his first update, he urged everyone to stay isolated and keep their chins up.

"We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time," he wrote. "There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball."
