Al Roker is on the road to recovery — and he’s not alone.

Since the Today show weatherman first revealed that he was treated for blood clots in his leg and lungs in early November, he has had to miss the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting. But in a heartfelt surprise, Al’s fellow NBC co-anchors brought the holiday spirit right to his doorstep.

On December 12, Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager, Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin and the rest of the Today show crew arrived at his New York City home wearing Santa hats and serenaded him with Christmas carols. The NBC meteorologist couldn’t help but be overcome with emotion, shedding happy tears in the process.

"I’ve missed you all so, so very much, all these faces," he said to the crowd. "It just means the world to me and to our family. And my Deborah, who’s just been my rock. I thank you so much. I really appreciated it. I love you more than you’ll ever know.”

The sweet moment was later shared on social media, and Al didn’t pass up the opportunity to express his gratitude in several posts. “I am still blown away by the love my family at @todayshow showed us this week,” he captioned Instagram photos featuring his wife, Deborah Roberts, and their daughter Leila.

Reacting to the heartwarming tribute, Today fans showered him with loving and supportive messages in the comments section. “We love you Al! We all wish we could stand there singing to you! 💝💝💝,” one person wrote. “That’s beautiful!!!! You are soooo loved!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” another added. “You ARE our most special Christmas gift EVERY DAY! ❤️,” a different follower said.

As for when viewers can expect to see Al back at the news desk, it might be a while longer. At the moment, he’s doing physical and occupational therapy to help get his strength back. Before his holiday surprise, Al revealed that although his recovery has been "a tough slog," he isn’t losing hope.

"This has been the hardest one yet — and you know, I've had my fair share of surgeries," he said on the show. "But I feel good, I feel strong. And every day, I feel a little bit better. It gives you a profound sense of gratitude for this outpouring of prayers and thanks. I'm a very fortunate person."

We can’t wait to see you back on the air, Al!
