‘Today’ Show Viewers Think Hoda Kotb Reunited With Ex Joel Schiffman After She Talks About ‘Falling Into Old Habits’ On Live TV

Earlier this week, Hoda Kotb got real on Today With Hoda & Jenna, and admitted to her co-host that she’s “fallen into old habits,” meaning at least once, she’s had trouble leaving the past in the past. When Hoda and Jenna Bush Hager were discussing Cardi B’s one-off reunion with Offset despite their breakup, Hoda let viewers in on a little secret: she’s been there, done that, and fans think she’s referring to her ex, Joel Schiffman. Hoda & Jenna Talk Reuniting With Ex’s

Hoda was with her ex-boyfriend Joel Schiffman had been dating since 2013 when they announced their split in early 2022, after having two children together and getting engaged. Hoda said of the breakup, “It’s not as if something happened. They say sometimes relationships are meant to be there for a reason or a season or a lifetime. And I feel like ours as meant to be there for a season.”

But it seems that season may have come again. Hoda and Jenna were chatting about how easy it is around the holidays to find yourself reconnecting with your ex: “There are three major traps in our calendar,” Jenna said, pointing out Christmas and New Year’s as the two biggest ones for when you may find yourself calling your ex. They cited Cardi B and Offset as an example:

"After you've been with someone for seven years and you see them and it's New Year's Eve, sometimes if you've been broken up for even a month or two... Sometimes you forget what was bugging."

Hoda Kotb Admits She's 'Fallen Into Old Habits'

Perhaps Hoda has some experience in that area? Jenna Bush Hager then asked Hoda if she's ever "fallen into old habits." And after some hesitation, Hoda admitted, "Yes, I have fallen into old habits."

However, she wouldn't do it again. "I did regret it," she continued. "It's one of those things where you say to yourself, 'just a little more willpower and I would have been fine.'" Though she didn't explicitly say that her "old habit" was Joel Schiffman, fans are assuming that's who she's talking about. After all, the two have continued to co-parent their daughters, Haley and Hope, since their breakup in 2022.
