Hoda Kotb is officially back on the Today show and she's opening up about her absence.

After stepping away from the NBC morning show for nearly three weeks, she returned on March 6 and shared what had caused her to suddenly leave the news desk. Sitting alongside co-host Savannah Guthrie, she revealed that she needed to take care of her 3-year-old daughter Hope Catherine, who received medical attention for an undisclosed health issue.

“My youngest, Hope, was in the ICU for a few days and in the hospital for a little more than a week," Hoda said after being welcomed back to studio 1A. "I’m so grateful she’s home ... I was waiting for that day to come, and we are watching her closely. I’m just so happy."

The NBC co-anchor went on to thank everyone who stood by her side while she looked after Hope. "I’m grateful for the doctors ... who were amazing and the nurses," she continued. "I’m grateful to my family, and I’m grateful to friends like you [Savannah] who were there every single day. So, I want to say thank you for that. I love you."

When Today show fans heard where Hoda had been, they immediately flooded social media with words of support for the mom of two. (She also shares 6-year-old daughter, Haley Joy, with ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman).

"Prayers that Hope continues to get better and God’s strength is with you Hoda 🙏," one person wrote on Instagram. "We worry so much about the safety and health of our children. I have been down this road too, as many parents have. Thoughts and healing prayers. ❤️," another commented. "Praying Hope is feeling better. As a parent there is nothing worse than your baby being sick. You’re a great mom Hoda! 🤍," a different user added on YouTube.

Hoda's return comes after she paused appearing on daytime TV and producing new episodes for her podcast Making Space ;on February 18. During that time, she posted several inspiration quotes on her Instagram, seemingly paying tribute to her daughter.

Her most recent upload came hours before coming back to the Today show, sharing a picture of a quote from late actor Christopher Reeve. It read: "Once you choose hope, anything is possible."
