When it comes to couples who are the definition of relationship goals, Al Roker and his wife Deborah Roberts are at the top of the list. But among the glitz and glamor comes real-life issues, and perhaps no one understands that more than Al.

The Today news anchor recently took to Instagram to pay tribute to his wife of 27 years. Posting a video montage of pictures of the couple, folks quickly realized many of them featured Deborah sitting at Al's bedside amid a number of health issues he's faced over the past few years. The images eventually progressed to the NBC journalist's most recent hospital stay for knee replacement surgery, leading him to pen a witty yet sentimental note to his longtime partner.

"I’m thinking @debrobertsabc and I have GOT to stop meeting like this!" he joked in the caption on May 10.

Shortly after he uploaded the post, Deborah caught wind of what her husband did for her. The ABC journalist quipped in response, "Yes. And we will!"

Naturally, the couple's fans loved seeing Al's post. "She took the vows seriously. In sickness and in health ❤️," one person wrote on Instagram. "You are so blessed to have @debrobertsabc! You both are a perfect pair 😍," another follower replied. "Such an example of what love and devotion you share for one another and your family. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏," a different user added.

Folks know Al has endured a number of health issues over the last few months. In November 2022, the 68-year-old journalist received treatment for a blood clot that initially started in his leg and later moved to his lungs. After two months of being away from the Today show, he made his TV return in early January.

As for Al's most recent stay in the hospital, it was revealed in May he underwent knee replacement surgery. While he's not back on NBC just yet, he appeared to be in good spirits while cooking a meal in a new Instagram video.

Deborah also spoke out about her husband's health concerns in March with Entertainment Tonight. Despite the struggles, she's happy to continue standing by his side.

"It's tough. I'm still kind of, I think, recuperating," she told the outlet. "I'm still mentally exhausted, but you know what, I'm grateful and just trying to just bask in the moment and just be happy that he's well, and we're all well."
