'Today' Fans Share Their Strong Feelings About Al Roker’s New Instagram of Savannah Guthrie

• This was the first time in months Savannah and Al saw each other in person, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

• To celebrate the special moment, Al posted a sweet Instagram of himself with Savannah.

Tuesday's episode of the Today show was an extra special one for co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker.

The NBC morning show stars reunited in person for the first time in months since the coronavirus pandemic prompted shutdowns and quarantining across the country. Together, the two did a special outdoors segment from the Hudson Valley in upstate New York, all while following social-distancing guidelines.

"We did the air hug [and] we're air kissing," Savannah told Hoda Kotb, who was filming the show from studio 1-A in New York City.

To celebrate the reunion, Al shared a heartfelt Instagram post on his own account. "Ahhhh. #reunitedanditfeelssogood," he captioned the carousel of photos. "So good seeing @savannahguthrie in person here on @todayshow live from #hudsonny."

Immediately, Today show fans rushed to the comments section. "❤️ So refreshing to see part of the team together!!!!" one fan wrote. "This is making me so happy🧡," another said. "Awwww a little sense of normalcy," a different Instagram follower noted.

The Hudson segment was especially important to Al, who has lived in the area for over 22 years with his family. The segment aimed to shine a light on Hudson and all small towns and communities that are reopening after mandated lockdowns earlier this year.

Beyond Tuesday's segment, Savannah, Al, and the rest of the Today team have made it abundantly clear that they really miss seeing each other in person. Last week, Al made a surprise virtual visit during Hoda and Jenna Bush Hager's fourth hour show — and the emotions were real.

"I miss you so much, Al," Jenna told the beloved weatherman. "I miss seeing your face! This is the best pop-in surprise there is."

Let's hope that more (safe!) Today show reunions happen really soon. Can't wait for the day the whole team will come together once again.
