Dylan Dreyer is officially back on Today’s third hour with fellow costars Al Roker, Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones after returning from her maternity leave. But only a few days later, the weather anchor said a bittersweet goodbye to her Weekend Today family after nine years on the air together.

On January 29, Dylan broadcasted live from her New York City post, where a nor'easter was bringing blizzard conditions and freezing temperatures. Although it wasn’t the most intense storm she has experienced while on the show, it marked her last one with fellow Weekend Today coanchors Morgan Radford and Peter Alexander.

After being surprised with a montage of her time on the Saturday edition of Today, Dylan reflected on her personal milestones off camera, including getting married to her husband, Brian Fichera, and becoming a mother to three sons — Cal, Ollie and Rusty. Though she was grateful for all her years on Weekend Today, Dylan admitted that she has her hands full at home. "I really don't want to step away," she said. "But I just don't think I can do six days a week anymore. The boys certainly keep me busy."

As fans may know, Dylan has worked six days on NBC since she first joined the network in September 2012. Apart from cohosting Today’s third hour on weekdays, she also lent her meteorology skills for Weekend Today. What’s more, she is the host of the award-winning documentary travel show Earth Odyssey on NBC.

When asked what she hopes to do with her new schedule, Dylan wasted no time in answering. "It's all about family time,” she said. “This job can get crazy especially when we're traveling and we're busy, but it's so important to make time for family, too. These boys are my whole life, and Brian and I, we love being a team on weekends and spending as much time as we can with them and having as much fun as we can. That's really all I'm going to be doing, just sitting at home and just loving up on those three."

Shortly after, the broadcast journalist shared her own personal message on Instagram alongside her Weekend Today montage.

Without missing a beat, fans immediately flooded the comments section with heartfelt messages and well wishes. “Congratulations, you are right where you need to be with your babies! Balance is key! God bless you and your beautiful family 💙,” one person wrote. “Will miss you, 😔 but will hurt if you miss those precious moments of those handsome boys. I will still look forward to you coming back in full force one day. Enjoy them! ❤️,” another added. “You will be missed but we still have you Monday thru Friday. Enjoy the weekends with your family. Well deserved,” a different fan said.

Most recently, Dylan and Brian welcomed their third son, Rusty, six weeks early in October 2021. Four months to the date, she returned to the Today show desk on January 24, and she felt “right back into the swing of things.” We’re excited for Dylan's change of pace, and we’ll make sure to keep catching her during the week!
