'Today' Fans Lost It After Watching Hoda Kotb and Al Roker's Wild "Meme" Moment on the Air

Hoda Kotb and Al Roker just went viral on the internet, and it's all because of a disagreement about a particular chocolate bar.

In a recent segment on the Today show, the duo sat alongside Craig Melvin, Tom Llamas and Carson Daly as they listened to a story about how snacking habits in the U.S. changed and how it has affected the food industry. With that, the group ate their favorite snacks until it came to Al's turn. His choice of snack was a PayDay bar, which he felt counted in this category due to its healthier ingredients.

"I was listening in on the senior producers' meeting, and they had a list [of the] top 20, and they included candy and salty snacks," he explained on March 29. "So, I went with the PayDay bar."

Despite the weatherman describing his love for the candy, seeing it without the wrapper made him hesitant to take a bite. As a result, the Today show's social team posted a Twitter poll on whether he should do so, with the majority of voters saying he "absolutely" should consume one on the air. But when it came time for him to do it, he asked Hoda to enjoy it with him in a Lady and the Tramp-esque moment.

"Twitter has spoken — I'll take your word," he said as he turned to Hoda. "Here, will you help me?" What's more, Craig immediately spotted the internet viral moment. "And there's the meme!" he yelled.

Unsurprisingly, seeing the duo's reaction to eating a PayDay bar left Today fans in stitches. Many proceeded to share their thoughts on Twitter, and they all shared similar sentiments over Al's favorite snack.

"Payday is one of the best candy bars out there! Peanuts are awesome and [caramel] is great!!!" one person wrote. "Yes I love payday. Send me some of the snacks!!" another added. "Have any of them TRIED a Payday???! Completely addictive!! You have great taste! 🥰," a different follower agreed.

With or without a wrapper, no one can deny just how good a Payday bar can be ...
