The wait is over for fans of TLC's My 600 Lb Life — the hit series returns with a new season airing on March 6 at 8 pm ET/PT, chronicling the difficult journey of seven morbidly obese patients as they embark on a path toward weight loss and health.

With the help of Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, known to viewers as "Dr. Now," his cut and dry approach to their overall health and well-being will aim to re-position them on a journey toward wellness — which is often the difference between life and death for many of his patients.

The patients this season all find themselves in unique situations: one woman hopes to turn her health around prior to getting married, a man who was previously addicted to drugs has now turned to food and a once-athletic man has skyrocketed to over 600 pounds.

My 600 Lb Life new season details

Many of the patients apart of this upcoming season are aided by family members who are hoping to save their loved ones before it's too late. One patient named William, who maintained an active lifestyle until an injury hindered his athleticism, is now over 600 pounds.

In a scene in the trailer, his mother describes his condition: "William is like a crashing plane — you can't stop it. It is heartbreaking to look at it."

For many of the patients struggling on this show, the journey toward health is not a straight line, many facing setbacks like weight gain and continuous food addiction.

"I need someone to help me. I'm ready to change my life," says another patient.

What happened to some of the previous patients?

Fans of My 600 Lb Life that are anxiously anticipating the new season have another premiere to look forward to: My 600 Lb Life: Where Are They Now? — new episodes begin on April 24 at 8 pm ET/PT.
