‘Titanic’ Sails Back to Theaters in 3D for Special 25th Anniversary Release

Near, far, wherever you are, drop everything and rush down to the cinema!

Titanic is headed back to the big screen.

The blockbuster film, which tells the story of a fictional couple aboard the ill-fated ship, first premiered in 1997, where it became the first movie to surpass a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.

This year marks its 25th anniversary, and to celebrate, Paramount is rolling it back out to theaters for a limited time only, starting on Friday, February 10.

The 11-time Academy Award-winning film has been remastered for the occasion and will be shown in a 3D 4K HDR format with a high frame rate.

Titanic stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Bernard Hill, Jonathan Hyde, Danny Nucci, Gloria Stuart, David Warner, Victor Garber and Bill Paxton, and was written and directed by James Cameron.

Some found the timing odd, joking about Cameron's continued success at the box office with the recent release of Avatar 2.

"Because James Cameron isn’t dominating enough," one said, while another added, "Gotta boost those numbers now that Avatar 2 is out."

Others relished the opportunity to catch an old favorite in HD again.

"I am unreasonably excited for this. Got to see it back in 2013 on an Imax and it was truly breathtaking," one fan commented under the announcement on Twitter.

"Can’t wait to see all that extra space on the door in 4K 3D," many also joked about the age-old debate of whether or not Jack could have survived on the broken, floating door with Rose.

"Give us that 4k physical release," another requested.

Hopefully, that announcement will follow shortly!
