Tiny Tortoise Celebrates Birthday With Larger-Than-Life Celebration
Every birthday is a milestone when it comes to having a pet. Even the tiniest of animals deserve a birthday party, and that’s just what Mia the tortoise’s mom did for her to celebrate her first birthday.
Her birthday party was larger than life, complete with a huge birthday feast of vegetables and a surprise “boyfriend” tortoise. Mia’s mom even decorated her shell with ribbons and a birthday plaque.

It’s so heartwarming to see this little tortoise celebrating, and she definitely loved the vegetable platter! Mia’s mom knew just what to do to make sure she was happy on her special day.
Mia is a Hermann’s tortoise, a species of tortoise that is native to Europe. These tortoises only grow to about 11 inches in length and live to about 30 years old. They make great family pets and clearly have little personalities of their own!
While Mia was digging into her birthday surprise, her little boyfriend watched on intently. He was so cute, but seemed to be a little shy. He will come out of his shell in no time (not literally)!
It’s amazing how much detail Mia’s mom put into her little birthday party. Mia is clearly loved so much!
There’s no telling how long it took little Mia to finish her birthday dinner. That was surely a lot of vegetables!
Mia’s mom has had her since she was a hatchling, so they must have developed a special bond being together for a year. Mia’s mom even got her a little present: a grow kit for clover. This will make such a tasty snack for her.
While most people have birthday parties for their dogs, not everyone probably has one for their tortoise. They are just as deserving of a celebration as other pets, and clearly Mia’s party is an example of that!
