Anyone who has worked in retail has had the pleasure of using a Jiffy steamer. Up until now, this has stood as my gold standard for making clothes wrinkle-free without a trip to the dry cleaners. There's just one problem — the industrial design is incredibly bulky, which makes home use difficult, and all but impossible for a New York City apartment. Oh, and even if that weren't a deterrent, one will run you about $200.

Fast forward several years, and I've been on a crusade to find an amazing, affordable steamer that's actually realistic for the everyday person. I had a few false starts with other major companies' steaming appliances that you can pick up at a local Target or Walmart, but they always ended with the same fate: The steam wasn't powerful enough to defeat wrinkles, water leaked out from the nozzle, and other times, they never even turned on at all. That all changed when my roommate let me borrow her bright pink "My Little Steamer." (Fun fact: I later learned this was a product by Joy Mangano, the famed inventor portrayed in the movie Joy.)

There was no big name brand on the side, and the entire thing wasn't much bigger than my hand. I was admittedly skeptical after being let down so many times before, but gave it a try anyway. Lo and behold, this unsuspecting little steamer changed everything! It was surprisingly powerful for its petite size, and made my silk tops look completely smooth in just seconds, no matter how wrinkled. Bye-bye, clunky ironing board!

If you're looking for all the bells and whistles, then this steamer probably won't do much to impress you, but for an unfussy little tool that gets the job done, it works wonders! The simple design has just one button, an on-and-off switch, and no adjustable power settings, but that has yet to be an issue at all. It has also lasted about three years, which is pretty remarkable when it comes to the lifespan of a small appliance. If there's anything negative to say, it's just that the water tank is fairly small, so you'll have to refill it with every one or two items steamed. However, that's a worthy sacrifice to have something so travel-friendly, and this thing goes everywhere with me. It hardly takes up any room in a suitcase, and is so much easier than packing with tissue paper!

With an average rating of 3.8 stars on Amazon, you'll find some mixed reviews, but also plenty of people who wholeheartedly agree with me. I honestly can't recommend the My Little Steamer enough! Plus, it doesn't require a major cash commitment at just $35. (For reference, I've spent $50-75 on others in the past, which all turned out to be duds.) And even better? You get to choose from multiple color choices, which is just icing on the wrinkle-free cake. Plus we've got a list of other top clothing steamers for you to choose from.
