If there is one fad that has united design lovers the world over, it is the tiny house, and over the weekend, we happened upon one unlike anything we've ever seen. That's because it was designed to look like NASA's 2017 Moon Base of the Artemis Project, which is planning on landing the first woman and first person of color on the moon. That big dream is a pretty good inspiration for a diminutive dwelling, if you ask us.

Like many supercool things, this lunar love nest doesn't come cheap! The Artemis Pod, which is made of a double-sided PVC-coated polyester, goes for a whopping $7,678 on Etsy.

For obvious reasons, it's tempting to call that price tag sky-high. But you might want to reconsider when you think about what your less than $8,000 is getting you. Maybe that's a workout studio, a home office, or, of course, a full-blown house with 377 square feet of living space. That's much cheaper than a mortgage!

On top of that, you can personalize your tiny house yourself, customizing each step along the construction journey, starting with the PVC outer layer, which comes in five colors (six, if you count clear). You can also decide what type of base you'd prefer: a wooden deck, a concrete foundation, a lawn, or bare earth. If there's something else you have in mind, the Etsy shop is more than open to suggestions. Lastly, if you live in a cold place, you can easily tack on thermal insulation (for an extra $1,300).

From an aesthetic standpoint, the Artemis is undeniably cooler than your typical tiny house, which looks and feels exactly like a mini, stripped down version of, well, a bigger house. The Artemis, on the other hand, looks like a giant oval dome. It's supported by a uniquely shaped eucalyptus wood frame and punctuated by a series of panoramic windows from every angle. What's more, the materials are quite built to last for at least several decades, so if you're looking to downsize in style, the Artemis might have you, well, over the moon with excitement.
