The Discovery Channel's much beloved Shark Week celebrated its 35 year this year with so many educational and incredible programs. Shark Week first started as a counterpoint to the negative representations of sharks in popular culture and for the last 35 year it has been educating and entertaining audiences about these fascinating and important creatures.

One of our favorite animals who celebrated the event was tiny Dachshund Teddy who terrorized beach goers in his tiny little shark costume!

Instagram users are loving this adorable little land shark and @Reggie comments, "I’m staying well away from the water now the TeddyShark is one handsome shark though." @ChiChi adds, "The cutest shark we ever did see." @Nugs replies, "Happy shark week Teddy!! You are the cutest baby shark ever!!" Noticing what we thought was absolutely hilarious was @Yummi who responded, "You tell those waves who’s boss teddy." He's totally telling off those waves to stay where they are!

Many shark populations have declined by more than 90% due to overfishing, climate change and habitat loss. Shark Week has helped to remove the stigma of man-eating monsters from sharks and help people understand why these animals are a vital part of the ecosystem. Conservation efforts run by organizations like Oceana that teamed up with Discovery helped protect sharks threatened by a global shark fin trade that includes fins from as many as 73 million sharks each year.

We love to see little dogs like Teddy celebrating these often-misunderstood animals.

If you missed the most wonderful time of the year, you can still stream all of the amazingly cool Shark Week programming on Max.
