Tina Turner has died.

The Queen of Rock ’n Roll, known for her powerhouse vocals, passed away today in her home of Küsnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland, according to Deadline. She was 83.

The outlet notes that the legendary singer was battling a long illness prior to her death, though the specifics have not been revealed.

Her U.K. spokesperson, Bernard Doherty, confirmed her death in a statement to the publication, noting, "With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” and revealing that, at least at this time, further press inquiries would not be answered.

Her manager also shared the sad news on the singer's official Facebook page, writing, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."

Turner was born in Tennessee as Anna Mae Bullock, beginning her decades of fame in the late '60s with her then-husband, Ike Turner, in the Ike & Tina Turner Revue duo. She later left Ike due to abuse, making a massive solo comeback in the '80s with hit singles like “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” "The Best," and “Private Dancer.”

Ultimately, she sold over 180 million albums and netted 12 Grammy Awards.

In 2013, Turner became a Swiss citizen, relinquishing her U.S. citizenship according to Encyclopedia Britannica. While she and Ike had been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame together in 1991, she was inducted as a solo performer in 2021. Her life story is told in the jukebox musical Tina, which is currently touring North America, as well as 1993's What's Love Got to Do With It? which starred Angela Bassett as the songstress.

Turner was preceded in death by her sons, Ronnie, who passed away in December of 2022, and Craig, who died by suicide in 2018, as well as ex-husband Ike in 2007. She is survived by her sons Michael and Ike Jr, Ike Turner's children from a previous relationship, whom she adopted, and husband Erwin Bach.

A private memorial service will be planned for the singer's family and close friends.
