From a Tina Turner drag show to pro wrestling, here's what's happening in Shreveport

It's Independence Day weekend, but that doesn't mean you have to celebrate with fireworks and hot dogs all weekend long. There are plenty of fun-filled events that aren't related to the Fourth of July happening in Shreveport. From creating your own one-of-a-kind candle to rocking out to 2000s emo classics, here's what is happening this weekend.

Friday, June 30

  • Cocktails for Cost 13.0: Fatty's Goes Tiki at Fatty Arbuckles - From 7 to 10 p.m. try out Fatty's special tiki cocktail menu developed by the team to take you on a trip to the tropics. Fatty Arbuckles is at 450 Clyde Fant Pkwy in Shreveport.

  • Simply the Best: A Drag Tribute to Tina Turner at The Korner Lounge - To close out Pride Month, The Korner Lounge is honoring the late Tina Turner with tribute drag performances by Winter Knight, Bernadette De'Stake, Latrice Sims, Sasha Black and Sheyonce. There will be a $10 cover, the doors open at 8:30 p.m. with the show starting at 10:30 p.m. at 800 Louisiana Ave. in Shreveport.

  • Of Sea, Shore and More Tour at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery - If you're in need of a trip to the beach, head to the Norton Art Gallery at 4747 Creswell Ave. in Shreveport to tour the summer exhibit "Of Sea and Shore." This special free tour begins at 1:30 p.m. There is limited availability. To reserve a spot, visit the Eventbrite page.

  • The Candle Pouring Experience at the Andress Artist & Entrepreneur Center - Clean Slate Botanicals will be hosting a candle pouring experience where you can gather with friends and create a one-of-a-kind candle. This is a Bring Your Own Beverage event, so feel free to bring any type of alcoholic or nonalcoholic drink to sip on while you pour. Tickets are $49.99 a person and can be purchased at the Clean Slate Botanicals website.

  • Bear's Pride - The party of the year is here so celebrate the final weekend of Pride Month with drink specials, music and iconic drag show. That Girl DJ will be spinning your favorite tracks, there will be RuPaul's Drag Race trivia for a cause to help the ACLU, Mahogany Campbell, Amy Graves and ZaZa Gigante will be performing and there will be LGBTQ+ vendors for you to shop with. There will be a $10 cover at the door and the fun begins at 11 p.m. at 1401 Fairfield Ave. in Shreveport.

Saturday, July 1

  • Emo Night at Bear's - Come jam out to all your favorite 2000s emo and pop punk tunes played by Backseat Heroes. There will be a $10 cover at the door and the music starts at 9 p.m.

  • Snakes and Sparklers Release Party at The Seventh Tap - The Shreveport brewery is throwing a party for the release of their annual Snakes and Sparklers heavily hopped double IPA just in time for Independence Day. Cal-Tex BBQ will be there from 1 to 7 p.m. or until sellout. The Seventh Tap is at 2640 Linwood Ave. in Shreveport.

  • Amber Waves of Pain Live Pro Wrestling at Great Raft - It's time for round three of Great Raft's live pro wrestling event to kick off the July Fourth weekend and to celebrate the brewery's All-American amber beer. Doors open at noon and the Provisions kitchen will be serving food all day. The wrestling match will begin at 6 p.m. and go on until the score is settled. Great Raft Brewing is at 1251 Dalzell St. in Shreveport.
