Tina Fey & Carol Burnett Are Bringing ‘Carrie & Me’ to the Big Screen

Two of comedy’s funniest ladies, Tina Fey and Carol Burnett, are teaming up for what is bound to be the movie of the year.

The pair are developing a brand-new film based on Burnett’s 2013 book Carrie and Me: A Mother-Daughter Love Story, according to Variety. Although they haven’t confirmed whether or not they’ll star in the project, we do know they’ll serve as executive producers, so we’ll take what we can get.

The movie is inspired by the best-selling novel, which focuses on Burnett’s career as an actress, producer and mother of three children—Carrie, Jody and Erin.

In particular, the story revolves around her relationship with her daughter Carrie, who struggled with drug addiction before achieving sobriety as an adult. The book also touches on Carrie’s tragic death at the age of 38 due to cancer.

The collaboration should come as no surprise, considering Fey is a longtime fan of Burnett. Not only did Fey present Burnett with the Mark Twain Prize back in 2013, but she also honored her with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 SAG Awards.

“The point is, Carol is better than all of us. We’re gonna give her a prize for it,” Fey said in her speech.

Next up? How about a movie inspired by Fey’s best-selling novel?
