Timothée Chalamet Wore Formal Sweatpants to the Met Gala

Timothé Chalamet chose a more casual American 'fit for this year's Met Gala.

The Dune actor and co-chair of this year's ball wore a white Haider Ackerman double-breasted suit jacket with matching white sweatpants and a pair of beige high-top Converse All-Stars. The sweats were rolled up at the ankle to show his kicks and adorned with diamond brooches at the hip. His hair, of course, was as tousled as always.

Chalamet has become one to watch on the red carpet thanks to his elegant and surprising spins on male formalwear. The Call Me By Your Name actor favors tailored suits in untraditional colors and patters, including florals, metallics, glitter, and even a sash at the waist, courtesy of his 2019 Venice Film Festival look. He's also fond of harnesses.

The young star just landed back in the States after promoting his film Dune at this year's Venice Film Festival. He got rave reviews both for the sci-fi epic and for his custom red-carpet looks. Chalamet opened up about pursuing the film's lead role in a Deadline interview, saying that he set up a Google alert for the film and found ways to get face time with the director, Denis Villeneuve.

"I like to think that with every film I’ve done...the character you play is almost a piece of your flesh. And that’s always true, but simply from the perspective of how long the shoot for Dune was, and also the arc that Paul Atreides is on, as well as the huge love and almost biblical connection that so many people have for the book and the original film, it really felt… tectonic, if that’s the right word for it. Just getting to this finish line feels like: phew."
