This past weekend, Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp—two French-speaking people with some of the most delicate, impeccable bone structures in existence— made a cameo together at the Venice Film Festival to promote their new film The King. (Both actors have starring roles in the David Michôd-directed movie.) Chalamet and Depp, whose possible romance has been the subject of much speculation, made their first red carpet appearance in quite a striking way. Depp was elegant in a frothy pale pink strapless dress with a matching fluttering scarf and silver Jimmy Choo heels. (With her hair swept up, wearing dangling earrings, she resembled her mother Vanessa Paradis.)

As for Chalamet, he has been known to take some red carpet risks in the past: like wearing an illustrated shirt to the Academy Awards or a harness to the Golden Globes. Here he shirked the traditional black-tie ensemble and opted for an outré tan Haider Ackermann suit. The outfit included a blindingly shiny silk shirt and a tweaked cummerbund. The final, very kingly touch here? Chalamet’s loose pants were rolled up to reveal a black pointy-toe boot with a kicky Cuban heel.

While Depp and Chalamet were seen together in New York City earlier this year in casual garb (i.e., jeans and hoodies), the duo can certainly pull off more elevated looks in their own, very true-to-self ways. And although we’re uncertain about their relationship status—they haven’t been seen out together in public for several months!—one thing is for sure: Their outfit choices, and their jawlines, certainly know how to shut down a red carpet.
