Timothée Chalamet Designed These Incredibly Rare Wonka -Themed Nike Dunks

Timothée Chalamet's Wonka press tour has given us a plethora of sartorial delights, from Matrix-style latex overcoats to rakish shirtless suits. Now, with the prequel film—which is garnering excellent early reviews—releasing this weekend, Chalamet has delivered a sneak peek at a pair of ultra-rare, Wonka-inspired Nike Dunk Lows that he designed himself.

Designed at the Nike campus in Oregon by Chalamet himself, and inspired by both his long-time love of sneakers and his wardrobe in the new film, the Wonka Dunks are about as lighthearted and whimsical as you’d expect, boasting a burgundy tongue and laces reminiscent of the chocolatier's signature jacket and smears of pastel color cross the body that are meant to look hand-drawn with pencil crayon. A yellow cursive “W” on the tongue tag and an embroidered cloud and lightning bolt on the heel serve as playful final touches. All in all, it’s a pretty outstanding sneaker—one Chalamet has already been out and about showing off with casual fits.

Mimicking the Golden Tickets from Charlie and the Choclate Factory, only five pairs of the Dunks were produced, available to win via a promotional contest for Wonka. The collector who gets their hands on these will be repping the sneaker equivalent of an everlasting gobstopper. We don’t even want to speculate about the resale price.
