You may have noticed that Kourtney Kardashian, 41-year-old reality star and inventor of Poosh, had a new friend on Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ final season. A fellow entrepreneur with children, you ask? Larsa Pippen again? Nope and certainly not! Her new KUWTK sidekick was, inexplicably and confusingly, 20-year-old TikTok star and burgeoning actress/singer Addison Rae. You know, the person responsible for the questionable yet rousing bop “Obsessed” and star of Netflix’s He’s All That, the remake to the 1999 classic She's All That?!

Addison, for reasons that we’re about to dive into, started hanging out at Kourtney’s house all the time last summer, causing the internet to fly into a state of confusion and wonder if this whole thing is a massive PR stunt to make Poosh popular with the #youth while also establishing Addison as even *more* of a household name.

Time to investigate how this friendship happened, and honestly, everything comes back to one person: Mason Disick.

They Became Friends Through Mason

Kourt and Addison met back in March 2020 when Addison helped Mason finesse his TikTok vibes (normal stuff) and ended up hitting it off with the rest of the fam.

“I kind of just stuck around and we got really close,” Addison mused at the time. “We started working out together. We did a video on her YouTube of us doing a butt workout and stuff, so that was fun.”

I mean…okay. This basically tells us nothing, but sure.

No, Kourt and Addison Aren’t Hooking Up

In case you were wondering, which Kim Kardashian apparently was because she straight-up asked Addison as much while grilling her during the world’s most awkward lunch. “Honestly, at the beginning, we were like, ‘Wait…are they…hooking up?’ If it was that kind of relationship,” Kim says in the below preview for Addison’s episode, while Scott Disick chimes in, “That was the elephant in the room.”

Truly, just watch the clip, but Addison clarifies, “No! We’re not!” and then adds, “It’s just very weird that that’s what the impression was.”

Kourt is A Part of Addison's Movie Debut

Addison's first movie He's All That premieres this Friday on Netflix, and ofc, Kourtney has a cameo in the flick. She even made it in the trailer!

Addison gushed to Access about having Kourtney in the film, saying the idea came to her during a brainstorm sesh of thinking through people in her life who would be fun to have in the movie. "I thought it'd be so incredible to have someone like her in this," said Addison. "The role matched perfectly with how we are in real life."

"She's an amazing friend of mine, amazing mentor and person," Addison continued. "We got very fortunate that it ended up working out and I'm so glad she got to join me on this. I'm very, very thankful for her."

When asked how their friendship came to be—bc all inquiring minds want to know—Addison chocked it up to their similarities...which OK, makes sense, that sounds like how friendships start. "I think both of us are very honest people and we like a lot of the same things," said Addison. "It started off with both of us just loving to workout. We were doing that together a lot."

"She's been so, so helpful and gracious and such a good person to lean on," Addison added.

So…Is Their Friendship Legit or a PR Stunt?

The question remains: Why are Kourtney and Addison friends, and could this all be a publicity stunt to promote their respective brands? I mean, on the one hand, it’s definitely true that these two have produced a lot of content together:

And it can’t be a coincidence that Addison’s arrival on Keeping Up With the Kardashians comes right as she’s promoting brand-new music. Meanwhile, thanks to Addison, Kourtney isn’t a regular mom, she’s a COOL TIKTOK MOM:

But some conspiracy theorists are convinced that this goes beyond just cross-promoting Addison’s and Kourt’s brands—and that her debut on KUWTK is setting the stage for a new reality show that’ll replace Keeping Up With the Kardashians once the fam moves over to Hulu. Addison hasn’t confirmed anything, but she’s definitely leaned into the speculation on TikTok:

All that said, staging a mid-quarantine friendship to promote Poosh, make Addison even more famous, and lay the groundwork for a new show seems like a plot too tactical for even Kris Jenner’s brain. So for now, let’s just assume these two are legit BFFs and roll with it. That said, I refuse to let us go without acknowledging this flawless post:
