Tim McGraw's Behind-the-Scenes Pics Have 'Yellowstone' Fans Pumped about the Prequel

Yellowstone fans are still reeling from the blockbuster 1883 casting news. The new Paramount+ drama, which premieres on December 19, will follow the origin story of the Dutton family and stars Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott.
Tim, who even grew a beard for the role, stars as Dutton family patriarch, James Dutton. He posted a video on Instagram to share his excitement with fans and explained what to expect from the prequel: "Faith and I get to star alongside Sam Elliott, goodness gracious, for the new Yellowstone prequel called 1883. It's going to be a fantastic family saga about the original Duttons and their journey to Montana and how they founded the ranch up there, written by Taylor Sheridan, of course, of Yellowstone fame and a lot of other great stuff. He's just one of the most special writers I've ever had the pleasure of reading material from, and we couldn't be more excited."
Filming has officially begun, and Tim took to Instagram to tease his fans with behind-the-scenes photos from rehearsals.
Tim posted a photo of a leather-bound journal engraved with the name J. Dutton and a pair of beat-up blue jeans covered in black powder. He captioned the post: "gettin in the groove for #1883 ..... as for the jeans ... black powder blanks from quick draw practice!!! [swipe to see]."
Fans expressed their excitement in the comments section. Country duo The Swon Brothers said, "Can’t freakin wait 💪🏼💪🏼." One fan wrote, "So excited...curious as to what is in that journal of Mr. Dutton's. Guess time will tell!" Another said, "Ohhhhh I'm tickled!!!!! Seriously my fave show and you are a perfect choice in casting!"
But the best comment award goes to a fan who wrote, "Quick Draw McGraw!!!" (Why didn't we think of that?!?)
