How TikTok's Delaney Rowe Got Ready to Sit Front Row at Loewe

"Loewe is playful. It’s relaxed and elevated at once—kind of like me. Just kidding."

During Paris Fashion Week on Friday, March 1, Jonathan Anderson's Loewe show packed the front row with celebrities rising and established. From a deliciously casual-looking Shawn Mendes to rom-com queen Meg Ryan dressed as though she were plucked directly from the set of When Harry Met Sally, there was more than enough star power to go around. Fashion, but make it Hollywood!

Among the crowd? TikToker, actress, and writer Delaney Rowe, who's more of a newcomer to the fashion world. If you've spent more than 15 seconds scrolling the app recently, there's a strong chance you've come across the entertainer's viral spoofs of film tropes and comedic bits about internet culture, adulting, and the ridiculous (and funny) nature of trying to make it as an actor. Her interpretation of an “absolutely insufferable female lead of an indie movie uses a metaphor that makes no sense" has helped earn her 2.5 million followers on the app, plus a contract with United Talent Agency (an incubator for the influencer-to-A-lister pipeline), and a glowing profile in The Washington Post.

Rowe is also well on her way towards becoming a fashion girlie, having sat front row at Ulla Johnson and Tory Burch during NYFW (nearby Pookie and Jett Puckett) and now Loewe in Paris. But the actress, who has dreams of making it big on the silver screen, never pictured herself sitting front row among fashion's ruling set.

"Absolutely not," she tells InStyle when asked if she ever imagined making it to Paris Fashion Week. "Even on the plane ride over here, I was just waiting for something to go wrong because the opportunity felt too good to be true. I was sure a door was going to fly off the plane in the air. But, alas, I made it. Feeling extremely grateful."

Time for Glam

"Every time I get my hair done, I always, always show a photo of Blake Lively for reference. I try to mix it up, but then it never goes well. I just want my hair to look like Blake’s, and I think that is my right as a tax-paying citizen. So Bjorn [Krischker] did a tousled, long blowout for me. No notes."

"And then I showed Jen [Tioseco] a photo of Camila Morrone’s makeup for reference. A very rock ’n’ roll look. She nailed it and also made me laugh a lot."

"It's all over the place. It’s high and low. Old and new. It’s called 'sexy dinner party.' We’ve got Outcast, Marvin Gaye, Khruangbin, David Bowie, Remi Wolf, Eminem, and Fiona Apple. My playlists are a lawless place."

A Fashion Newbie

"Have I always loved fashion? Honestly, no. I’ve always hated shopping. In my early 20s, it was all Brandy Melville and the 'vintage' rack at Urban Outfitters. I didn’t care until I started this career, which involves attending a lot of events and getting photographed. Suddenly, I had to admit I wasn’t above wanting to look put together and, more importantly, current. And that requires knowing what’s going on in the fashion world. It’s like watching all the Oscar-nominated movies. You gotta do it in order to participate in interesting conversations. This feels like the cerulean monologue in The Devil Wears Prada."

A Few Days in Paris

"[I] saw the lovely Kathryn Gallagher last night. We had never met in person—only internet bantered. But you would’ve never known. We commiserated over having masculine jawlines [laughs] and how hard it is to do makeup on faces like ours. We’ve been told we have the same face, which is what our friendship is now predicated on. Then, I took my friend Clem to the Loewe after-party. She may or may not have kissed a cute waiter."

The Most Surprising Thing About PFW

"How little of Paris I actually got to see. I mainly stayed in my hotel room eating room service three times a day, trying like hell to stay awake. I did pop into a vintage store and said bonjour, and the store owner just goes, 'American?' I said, 'How did you know?' and she just waved her hand at me as though gesturing to my aura and said, 'Your whole thing.' Thought I could pass for French. Guess it’s time to stop telling people I’m related to Camille Rowe."

Her Love for Loewe

"Loewe is playful. It’s relaxed and elevated at once—kind of like me. Just kidding. I’ve never been relaxed a day in my life. But at the fitting, they said, 'We want you to wear what you feel good in.' That’s not always how it goes. Sometimes, it feels like you’re a mannequin or wearing a costume—which is its own kind of fun—but I felt genuinely confident, sexy, and like myself in these clothes. I had my belly button out, which was risky, to say the least."

On Today's Look

"You know when you see a piece of clothing and somehow know it will fit you well? That’s how I felt when I saw the skirt in the showroom. And then I wanted to show a little skin, naturally, in the middle of Parisian winter, so we went with a crop top. I think it came together so well."

The Accessories

"I’m not super into jewelry, So I skipped it and just did a simple pair of sunglasses, which came in handy when I got caught in traffic and ended up being 20 minutes late for the show and didn’t want anyone to see my embarrassment. I was stress crying by the time I arrived."

Why She Loves the Front Row

"It is, genuinely, for lack of a better term, fabulous. I couldn’t believe I was there, sitting across from St. Vincent and a few seats away from Alexa Chung. I definitely looked like a newbie. Very green and wide-eyed. Zero chill. Meanwhile, Derek Blasberg is just relaxing and chatting and sitting back like he was in a bar with friends. Cut back over to me: stress crying."
