TikTokers discuss complexities of friendship with trending ‘in their eyes’ audio
TikTokers are realizing it’s hard to change some people’s perception of them in a new trend circling the app.
The trend is centered around a sped-up version of TV Girl’s “Blue Hair,” which was posted by @moonlit_audios at the end of 2022. Since then, there are over 114,000 videos attached to the sound, with several of them coming from this trend.
In the song, TV Girl sings, “There’s really no way of winning/If in their eyes you’ll always be a dumb blonde.” On TikTok, users are substituting “dumb blonde” for the box the people in their lives have put them in.
“There’s rlly no way of winning, if in their eyes… they did nothing wrong,” wrote @uraloser133 in her post.
Her video received nearly 4 million views and over 1 million likes, with several of the comments agreeing with the video’s sentiment.
“You can’t use logic against someone who doesn’t use it themselves,” said @meaty_max_808.
Many TikTokers used this sound to show how they feel in their friendships, or lack thereof for some people.
“There’s really no way of winning, if in their eyes… You’ll always be the “Extra friend,” wrote @shimotii.
The commenters felt this message strongly and shared how they decided to act differently to people because of this treatment.
“The exact reason I made sure to never leave anyone out,” said @secretaccount7271.
Although the song is somber and a lot of the videos feel emotional, there is a subsection of people that are being funny with this trend.
“There’s really no way of winning, if in their eyes… you always be the friend with the best pantry,” wrote @picklejuiceluverr.
