TikToker shares hack for going to the restroom during a movie

As people continue to file into the theater to see Barbie, Oppenheimer and several other popular summer films, one task might put a slight damp into the experience — going to the restroom.

TikToker Mary Ardnt (@ijustwannachatpodcast) posted a video explaining when the best time to take a bathroom break is during Oppenheimer, which has a three-hour run time. Then, Michael Vaughn (@world.shaker) stitched her video to tell his followers about the app RunPee.

RunPee is an app designed to tell users when the best time to go to the restroom during a specific movie would be, labeling them “Peetimes.” While they are normally during the slower parts of films, Peetimes are meant to be moments that are easy to summarize and less than crucial to the movie.

To use the app, users start by pressing a button when the movie starts. Then, the app will send a notification to your phone when the most optimal time for a bathroom break occurs. Once you return, RunPee will summarize that part of the movie.

For movies like Oppenheimer and Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, which are over two and a half hours long, this app could be useful.

On top of the Peetimes, RunPee informs people about potential after-credit scenes and how valuable they are.

With this information, TikTokers are ecstatic as they prepare to spend significant time at the movies.

“As a pregnant woman trying to enjoy barbheimer THANK YOU,” replied @abs.fin.

How have I not heard about this?! Life changing,” commented @etacarineart.

Furthermore, RunPee has Alert Peetimes, which lets people know if a potentially disturbing scene is about to happen. However, RunPee acknowledges that there are some limitations.

“This solution comes with a few caveats. First, this is obviously very subjective,” said founder Dan Gardner on the app’s website. “However, I think there is a lot of common ground. We focus on scenes that have sexual violence, animal cruelty, or torture.”

With both Barbie and Oppenheimer expect to continue their success following an encouraging opening weekend, RunPee can help people make the right decision in the time of a bladder crisis.
