This TikTok User's Eye Makeup Is Inspired by Her Colorful Collection of Hair Clips

With so much time being spent at home, there have been countless opportunities to get creative, whether that's with makeup, creating social media content, or (ideally) both. TikTok has been the app to open for short doses of imaginative beauty videos, like the #dontrushchallenge and clever hairstyling hacks. And one TikTok user named Yolanda Terrazas has spent the last couple of months challenging herself to match her eye makeup to her hair clips.

Terrazas, whose TikTok handle is @icutyolawnduhh, started her adorable videos in mid-March when she was inspired by fellow TikToker @tochiology, who had been matching her makeup to her scrunchies. "During this pandemic, I realized I was getting overwhelmed with being home all the time, and I needed something to distract me from feeling sad or feeling like I was stuck in this house — even though technically I am," Terrazas tells Allure. "I love doing makeup, and I wanted to take it to a new level and challenge myself with a series."

Terrazas noticed she had over 20 hair clips in different color combinations and patterns, so she decided to start pulling them from a bag and mimicking those hues and textures on her eyelids — and the results are mesmerizing.

"One of the most challenging looks was day 13, when I matched my makeup to my hair clips that were watercolored," Terrazas tells Allure. "It took me over two hours just to get it right, but I am so proud and happy with the outcome."

Her favorite look so far? "Out of all of my looks from my series, my favorite has to be day 12, when I matched my makeup to my cow-print hair clips," she says. "Something about that look just made me feel so beautiful, and it was so much fun creating that look. I remember FaceTiming most of my friends because I was so proud of it."

Terrazas has already done 15 looks, but she has no plans to stop as long as she's staying at home. "I've been able to purchase more beautiful clips from Amazon, and I'm so excited to see how many more videos I can add onto — my goal is at least 25," she tells Allure. "Makeup is therapeutic for me, and the fact this series is inspiring so many others to sit down and play with makeup, and knowing it helps them feel good about themselves makes me so happy."
