This TikTok Shows Why McFlurry Spoons Have A Hole In Them And It’s Blowing Peoples’ Minds
One of the greatest mysteries of our time is the fact that you can't drink out of a McFlurry spoon. It seems like a missed opportunity, what with the clear opening at the top of the spoon and the soft texture of the ice cream. Thanks to TikTok, we now know the reason for the oddly shaped spoons and it actually makes so much sense.
A McDonald's employee brought us behind the scenes and shared a video on her TikTok account. "Have you ever wondered why you can't drink out of a McFlurry spoon?" the video started. Then it shows the ice cream being poured into the cup and the Oreo pieces being added on top.
At this point, it doesn't look like a McFlurry yet because the Oreo isn't mixed throughout the ice cream—and that's where the spoon comes in. Rather than being a straw, the opening at the top of the spoon is actually meant for mixing. After the ice cream and topping is in the cup, workers insert the spoon in the cup and the utensil hooks into a machine that mixes the McFlurry together.
It makes total sense and it also explains how McFlurrys have that creamy texture and Oreo or M&M's equally distributed into every bite.
