The two sang the hit song together on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show.'

Kelly Clarkson brought back her hit song "Breakaway," originally released almost two decades ago in 2004, for a beautiful duet performance with Grammy winner Sam Smith, and fans were captivated.

The singer posted a video of the performance on TikTok, and the comments are filled with obsessed fans loving the duet.

One fan perfectly summed up everyone's feelings about the performance, writing, "I need this duet tattoed on my skin," while another commented, "I got pure chills!! this was beautiful😍😍."

Many people praised Clarkson, as she sang a higher harmony while Smith sang the main melody during the duet. She's well-known for her vocal range, so this just underscored her skills.

One complimentary comment read, "this woman sang this song in an even higher key than the original. perfectly harmonizing with Sam. she's perfection."

Another comment, with over 9,000 likes, said, "even after two decades of loving her, i still melt to the floor when kelly sings live. best vocalist of my generation, no contest."

A consistent thought shared by fans in response to the stunning duet was that they want the song to be released on Spotify or somewhere else so that they can download it and listen over and over.

There was a lot of nostalgia going around as well. When "Breakaway" first came out, it was released as the lead single of her album of the same name, but it was also a part of the soundtrack for the film Princess Diaries 2

A fan commented below the video, "the way i literally watched the princess diaries two last night 😱," while another suggested that the duet be a new release recorded alongside a highly-desired Princess Diaries 3.

Rumors of another sequel have been going around for years, with Anne Hathaway revealing in 2019 on an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that there was a script, adding that both she and Julie Andrews were interested in returning.

But Andrews recently changed her tune, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "I think it would be too late to do it now...[For] especially me, it’s too far down the line now to go back to it. It’s a lovely thought, but I don’t think it would probably be possible."
